Unlocking the Secrets of Human Behavior: A Glimpse into Work Human Conference with Eric Bailey

Revving up for the Work Human Conference with Eric Bailey

Welcome to the Inclusive AF podcast by Jackye Clayton and Katee Van Horn. In this episode, they discuss the upcoming WorkHuman conference in San Diego with the amazing speaker, Eric Bailey.

Introducing Eric Bailey

Eric Bailey, a speaker at the WorkHuman conference, talks about his journey to become a unique public speaker. Rather than getting frustrated with irrational behaviors, he pursued understanding human behavior through brain sciences such as psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, and anthropology. This path has helped him transform his frustration into teaching the world a better understanding of human behavior.

Being an Arizonan himself, Eric shares his love for Arizona and discusses the desert-like atmosphere. He then proceeds to talk about his experience with the Work Human conference.

Eric's Journey to Work Human

"Getting on stage at Work Human is harder than getting into Harvard." - Speaker Coordinator at Work Human

Eric shares his rather interesting journey to WorkHuman, which started with a call for speakers in 2018. A friend of his, Brooke Hamilton, introduced him to the conference. He got a spot to speak at the event in Nashville and continued to return as a speaker every year, including last year's virtual conference. He's also excited to speak at the WorkHuman conference this year.

Eric's book, "The Cure for Stupidity: Using Brain Science to Explain Irrational Behavior," also launched when he started speaking at WorkHuman.

The Cure for Stupidity: Using Brain Science to Explain Irrational Behavior

Eric discusses his book, which aims to help people understand each other better by reducing judgments based on misunderstandings. He highlights the importance of understanding how brain science can explain irrational behavior and help us navigate social norms and expectations in personal and professional settings.

Over the course of his career, Eric developed 22 principles called the Principles of Human Understanding. While it's impossible to cover all 22 in a single workshop or session, his book provides people with a comprehensive look at understanding human behavior through these principles.
